Best season to travel to Krakow

Restauracja Wentzl

A restaurant with superb dining and excellent views of Market Square

Best time: all year round

Wentzl Restaurant is a historic dining place in the heart of Krakow. Located in the 15th-century Kamienica pod Obrazem at Rynek Główny 19, the restaurant boasts excellent views of Saint Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki). The restaurant's Renaissance interior with timbered ceilings, oriental carpets, and a collection of oil paintings create a genuinely regal atmosphere.

Superb cuisine and exceptional service entice the visitors who are after fine dining. The menu features a range of mouthwatering options from crispy foie gras and lamb chops with black sauce to salmon tartare and roast duck with nuts and apple stuffing. The selection of homemade and internationally produced wines enhances the gastronomic experience.

There is lots of history to this place, too. Back in 1792, Jan Wentzl moved his dining facility to Krakow's Market Square. Over the course of more than 200 years, the halls and walls of Restauracja Wentzl have hosted an endless list of guests from the city and from across the world. In the late 19th century, it was a meeting spot for local artists. A famous Polish writer Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński left his signature in the guest book in 1938. Today, well-trained and educated personnel make sure the guests leave the place with a desire to come back.
